Flutter Predictions for Very Flexible Wing Wind Tunnel Test

The stability boundaries of a very flexible wing are sought to inform wind-tunnel flutter test campaign. objective is twofold: identify via simulation the relevant physical processes be explored while ensuring safe and nondestructive experiments, provide benchmark case for which computational models data freely available. Analyses have been independently carried out using two geometrically nonlinear structural coupled with potential flow aerodynamics. based on prototype static load aeroelastic tests available, experimental results successfully reproduced numerically. displays strong effects deformations as high 50% its span. This in substantial changes dynamics, display several mode crossings that cause mechanisms change function deformation. Stability characteristics depend both freestream velocity angle attack. A fast drop speed observed deforms attack increased, whereas large stable region displacements over 25%. corresponding wind tunnel dynamic validated these predictions.
